Product Description
Wear and tear on the cartilage which covers the articular surfaces of joints is one of the most common causes of reduced mobility in horses and ponies. It is often seen in older horses but can affect those in lighter work, as well those with a strenuous training and competition programme.
Cartilage doesn’t have its own blood supply and it relies on the bone underneath and the synovial or joint fluid bathing the joint to supply nutrients and key compounds to maintain its health and shock-absorbing properties. As the horse ages, or the daily impact of training and competition increases, the ability of the underlying bone and synovial fluid to provide these nutrients may not be enough to maintain health, resulting in stiffness and reduced mobility.
Glucosamine 12,000 provides these key nutrients to help maintain healthy cartilage and synovial fluid, supporting joint health and mobility.
Glucosamine HCl is supported by research and has greater purity and stability properties compared to glucosamine sulphate, providing over 20% more glucosamine on a weight for weight basis. This means, 12,000mg of glucosamine HCl (a typical daily serve), is not the same as 12,000mg of glucosamine sulphate. Glucosamine HCl is typically 83% actual glucosamine and glucosamine sulphate is typically only 60% actual glucosamine. Therefore, a supplement providing 12,000mg glucosamine HCl per serve actually provides 10,300mg glucosamine, whereas a supplement stating 12,000mg glucosamine sulphate per serve only provides 7200mg actual glucosamine.
Ingredients & Nutrition
Glucosamine is one of the key compounds in supporting joint health, and has 3 important roles:
- To stimulate the production of the proteoglycans which help produce the strong, elastic, shock-absorbing properties of the collagen matrix in the cartilage
- To help maintain cartilage health
- Helps support the horses’ own anti-inflammatory processes.
MSM is a powerful antioxidant and helps support the horses’ own anti-inflammatory systems, as well as a bioavailable source of organic sulphur, which is a vital component of key amino acids and vitamins. Sulphur also has an important role in collagen synthesis. Collagen is a major component of connective tissue such as ligaments and tendons and cartilage.
Hyaluronic Acid is important in maintaining the viscosity and elastic shock-absorbing properties of joint fluid
Glucosamine HCl 12000 provides these 3 key nutrients to provide nutritional support for cartilage and helps maintain healthy joint fluid to lubricate and nourish the joint.

Product Description
Horses’ joints are subjected to immense stress and strain, particularly during competition and training, leading to wear and tear. Joint problems, especially wear and tear of the cartilage (which covers the articular surfaces of bones within the joint) is one of the most common causes of reduced performance and ultimately lameness in performance horses. This isn’t just a problem of performance horses though, with horses living longer than ever, these joints can also have significant wear and tear due to a lifetime of use!
As the horse ages, or the daily impact of training and competition increase, the ability of the underlying bone and synovial fluid to provide vital nutrients and key chondroprotective compounds may not be enough to maintain joint health resulting in a loss of performance. So it is important that high-performance and older horses receive a dietary supply of these key nutrients to support joint health, to ensure the cartilage and joint fluid retain their elasticity and shock-absorbing properties to help maintain peak performance and comfort.
Ingredients & Nutrition
A complementary feed for horses and ponies, designed to support and maintain healthy joints and comfort, as part of a balanced diet.
Easy to feed in a highly palatable cherry flavoured powder.
Key Ingredients
Glucosamine - is one of the key compounds in supporting joint health, and has 3 important roles:
- To stimulate the production of proteoglycans and glycosaminoglycans (GAGs), which help to produce the strong, elastic, shock-absorbing properties of the collagen matrix in the cartilage.
- To help maintain cartilage health.
- Helps support the horses’ own anti-inflammatory processes.
N-Acetyl D Glucosamine - provides an additional source of glucosamine that is particularly important in supporting the horse's own anti-inflammatory processes.
Chondroitin Sulphate - is a key compound in maintaining the structure, elasticity and shock-absorbing properties of cartilage, partly through its water-retaining properties.
Boswellia - the new Kentucky Advanced Joint Powder (formerly known as Kentucky Super Strength Joint Powder), the level of Boswellia has increased to 5000mg per 35g serve from 1700mg. The Boswellic Acids, in particular, AKBA (Acetyl-11-keto-β-boswellic acid) have been shown to support the horse's own anti-inflammatory processes, helping to maintain performance levels. Boswellia also provides antioxidants and other important phytochemicals to support joint health and comfort.
MSM - provides support for the horses own anti-inflammatory processes. It also provides a bio-available source of sulphur to support the bonds in the structural matrix of the cartilage, and the tendons and ligaments.
Hyaluronic Acid - high molecular weight HA helps to maintain the viscosity and elastic shock-absorbing properties of joint fluid and is increasingly recognized as playing a vital role in joint health.
Vitamin C - plays a key role in the production of collagen, which provides the structural framework for the important shock-absorbing properties of cartilage, as well as supporting connective tissue (e.g. ligaments and tendons).
Manganese, Copper and Zinc Glycinates - are a bioavailable source of key trace mineral which plays a key role in many enzymes systems involved in joint health.
Manganese, Copper and Zinc Glycinates - are a bioavailable source of key trace mineral which plays a key role in many enzymes systems involved in joint health.
Rosemary – a natural antioxidant.
Black Pepper - provides a source of piperine, which is thought to help the absorption of these key ingredients to support joint health.
Kentucky Advanced Joint Powder contains optimum levels of these key ingredients to provide essential nutritional support for cartilage and to help maintain healthy joint fluid to lubricate and nourish the joint, helping to promote the health and vital shock-absorbing properties in hard-working joints.
Kentucky Advanced Joint Powder will also help support the horse's own anti-inflammatory processes to help maintain joint and muscle comfort in high-performance horses.

Ingredients & Nutrition
Key Ingredients
Collagen – one of the most abundant proteins in the body, and provides the structural framework for cartilage, to help give it strength and elasticity. We are proud to confirm that we use a sustainable and ethical source of marine collagen.
Hyaluronic Acid – a key compound called a glycosaminoglycan (GAG) which helps to maintain the viscosity of the joint fluid, to lubricate the cartilage and act as an additional shock absorber.
Amino Acids – to provide the nutritional building blocks for the production of the amino sugars. The best known amino sugar is probably glucosamine, which is important as a subunit for the production of other compounds called glycosaminoglycans (GAGs) which then bind to the collagen framework in the cartilage, to help give it greater strength and elasticity.
MSM - provides a natural, bioavailable form of sulphur which is a key mineral for the bonding of compounds within the cartilage framework, to enhance strength, and also helps to support the horse's own anti-inflammatory processes.
Key trace minerals including manganese, silicon and copper - which all play important roles in the production of structural compounds such as chondroitin, as well as in the production of collagen and hyaluronic acid. These minerals also play key roles in the production of important antioxidants.

Product Information
Performance horses' muscles and joints are challenged daily with intense training and rigorous racing and competition programmes.
Many trainers and elite riders cite musculo-skeletal recovery as one of their greatest challenges in managing their racehorses and sport horses, to help each horse achieve their genetic potential, and to maintain health and wellbeing throughout the horse's career.
Targeted nutrition can help support the rapid recovery of the musculo-skeletal system, promoting optimum performance and longevity.
Cortaflex Recovery provides key nutrients to support joint, tendon and ligament health, including collagen, hyaluronic acid, key amino acids and vital trace elements including copper, manganese and silicon.
In addition, Cortaflex Recovery supplies a potent blend of phytonutrients to support the horse's anti-inflammatory processes, including high levels of Boswellia and Curcumin (the active ingredient in Turmeric), as well as omega 3 fatty acids, to promote muscle and joint recovery following exertion.
Cortaflex Recovery also delivers a powerful range of natural antioxidants, including Vitamins E and C, as well as beetroot, dry grape extract and rosemary, to neutralize free radicals produced during intense exercise, helping to reduce oxidative damage to cells and supporting muscle health and recovery.
Bio-available copper and vitamin B12 are also included, to support red blood cells, oxygen transport and energy production.
All ingredients are selected to ensure they are fully compliant with the Rules of Racing and the FEI guidelines for Clean Sport.
Ingredients & Nutrition
A highly palatable powder, on a full-fat linseed base, formulated to provide key micronutrients and ingredients to support joint and muscle health and recovery after intense exercise.
The unique blend of ingredients includes:
Collagen - an important compound needed to produce the water-based matrix or structural framework of the cartilage, to help give it strength and elasticity. (We use a sustainable and ethical source of marine collagen).
Hyaluronic acid - a key glycosaminoglycan (GAG) which helps to maintain the viscosity of the joint fluid, to lubricate the joint and act as a shock absorber.
Amino acids to provide the building blocks for the production of the amino sugars such as glucosamine, which is a structural subnit in the production of other glycosaminoglycans (GAGs) which bind to the collagen matrix to help maintain strong and functional cartilage.

Product Description
Kentucky Liquid Joint supplement provides key nutrients and ingredients to help support joint health and mobility in horses and ponies in light to moderate work, as well as supporting comfort and mobility in older horses and ponies.
As the horse ages or the daily impact of training and competition increase, the ability of the underlying bone and synovial fluid to provide these nutrients may not be enough to maintain health, resulting in stiffness and reduced mobility.
It then becomes important that the horse receives a dietary supply of these key nutrients to ensure the cartilage and joint fluid retain their elasticity and shock-absorbing properties to support joint health, comfort and mobility.
- Provides Glucosamine Hydrochloride (HCL) - backed by research
- Also provides MSM and Hyaluronic Acid (HA)
- Contains key antioxidants Boswellia and Vitamin C
- Great value joint and mobility support for all horses and ponies
- BETA NOPS and UFAS accredited, ensuring our products do not contain prohibited substances and are suitable for horses competing under FEI regulations and the Rules of Racing.
Ingredients & Nutrition
Glucosamine is one of the key compounds in supporting joint health, and has 3 important roles:
- To stimulate the production of the proteoglycans which help produce the strong, elastic, shock-absorbing properties of the collagen matrix in the cartilage.
- To help maintain cartilage health
- Helps support the horses' own anti-inflammatory processes.
Collagen is an important compound, producing the structural framework of cartilage, helping to give it strength and elasticity and provide shock absorption. We are proud to confirm that we use a sustainable and ethically produced form of marine collagen.
Vitamin C is one of the most important antioxidant vitamins, helping to scavenge free radicals and reduce oxidative damage in joints.
Boswellia also provides antioxidants and other important phytochemicals (plant-derived compounds) to support anti-inflammatory processes.
Kentucky Liquid Joint Supplement provides these key nutrients in a highly palatable solution, to help maintain healthy cartilage, synovial fluid and connective tissue, to support joint health and mobility.

Product Description
EA Nutra Buteless High Strength Solution is designed to provide extra support and comfort to hardworking joints and muscles in performance horses and ponies.
Buteless High Strength Solution is also ideal for older horses, when years of wear and tear on joints.
This unique solution, combining highly bio-available Boswellia, Curcumin and Marshmallow extracts, provides natural support for the horse's own anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant processes:
Boswellia serrata: grows in the dry, mountainous regions of India, North Africa and the Middle East, and the resin from the Boswellia genus is also known as frankincense – which tells us a little about how long it has been considered a valuable resource!
Recent research has indicated that it is a group of compounds called boswellic acids, found in Boswellia, that help the horse's own anti-inflammatory processes. Furthermore, one of the boswellic acids, abbreviated to AKBA* ( acetyl-11-keto-B-boswellic acid) has been shown in both human and animal studies to be the most active of these important compounds which support natural anti-inflammatory processes.
EA Nutra Buteless High Strength Solution contains a unique Boswellia extract, containing 78% AKBA – many times higher than conventional Boswellia extracts, providing an extremely high level of support for natural anti-inflammatory processes, and helping to maintain joint health and comfort.
Curcumin: the active compound derived from Curcuma longa (turmeric), and known throughout the world for its natural support for natural anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant processes, to support joint health and comfort. The curcumin extract in EA Nutra Buteless Solution is unique and highly bioavailable.
Marshmallow (Althea officinalis): is probably the plant from which the well-known confectionary treats were originally derived in the 19th century – mixing the sweet sap from the marshmallow root with egg whites and sugar. However, as well as a sweet sap, the marshmallow plant also contains a number of other phytochemicals, which may help the horse's own anti-inflammatory processes, and support joint health and mobility.
What are the benefits of Buteless High Strength Solution?
- Helps natural anti-inflammatory processes and supports joint health and comfort in both performance horses and older horses and ponies.
- Contains exclusive 78% AKBA Boswellia extract, as well as Curcumin and Marshmallow extracts.
- Palatable and easy to mix in feeds.
- Low sugar and suitable for horses and ponies.
- Batch tested in independent Labs in the UK and France, suitable for horses competing under FEI rules and The Rules of Racing.

Product Description
MSM is found naturally in many fresh forages, but in very small quantities - usually in insufficient quantities to fully support the horse's own anti-inflammatory and antioxidant processes. It is also lost during the production of preserved forages such as hay and haylage.
MSM is a very bio-available source of the key mineral sulphur. Sulphur is a vital component of key amino acids such as methionine (important in hoof health), and important vitamins such as Vitamin B1 and Biotin.
Sulphur also plays a key role in the production of collagen, which is an important component of cartilage - one of the vital shock absorbing compounds in joints, and in connective tissue (tendons and ligaments).
The bioavailable sulphur from MSM will also promote healthy skin and coat, as well as stronger hoof horn, through its role in the synthesis of important sulphur containing amino acids and vitamins, such as biotin and methionine.
What are the benefits of MSM?
- Supports the horse's own anti-inflammatory processes to support joint health and comfort.
- Supports the production of collagen to support healthy cartilage, ligaments and tendons.
- Helps reduce oxidative stress.
- Helps promote healthy skin, coat and hoof horn.

Product Information:
Better Bones Pellets are a carefully researched combination of key minerals, vitamin D3, vitamin K, collagen and amino acids, to support correct bone growth and development in young, growing horses, including young racehorses and performance horses entering training, as well as broodmares.
The skeletal development and health of a young horse begins in utero, and ensuring the broodmare receives the correct intake of key nutrients will be critical to the growth of the unborn foal. Producing high-quality milk places a significant drain on the nutrient reserves of the mare, and maintaining mineral intakes during peak lactation is vital to ensure the foal receives the best nutrition to support the rapid skeletal development in the early weeks and months of growth.
Mineral and other nutrient imbalances in growing youngstock have been recognised for some time as a potential factor in the incidence and severity of developmental skeletal abnormalities, and although genetics and environmental factors can also play a significant role, breeders and trainers can exert a significant degree of control over the nutrition of the horses in their care, ensuring they receive optimum levels of key nutrients.
Young performance horses, such as racehorses, or young showjumpers, dressage or event classes taking part in age-restricted classes, are expected to train and race or compete where significant stresses are placed upon immature bones and joints. Whilst there are many factors than can result in skeletal problems in young performance horses, ensuring that the correct nutrients are provided to support maximising bone density will help ensure optimum bone strength and may reduce the incidence and severity of bone injury.
Better Bones can also be fed to horses on long term box rest, when the enforced inactivity can result in bone de-mineralisation, making the horse more vulnerable to further injury when work recommences.
What are the benefits of Better Bones Pellets?
Calcium is one of the most important minerals in bone, and accounts for nearly 35% of equine bone, as well as playing key roles in muscle and nerve function. Calcium is provided from a combination of organic and inorganic sources, to ensure optimum bio-availability, including marine algae, calcium gluconate, dicalcium phosphate and alfalfa.
Phosphorus accounts for around 15% of bone, and also plays key roles in energy and fat metabolism.
Magnesium - about 60% of the magnesium in the horse’s body is found in the skeleton (and around 30% in the muscles). Magnesium is provided from marine algae.
Vitamin D3 - plays a key role in the correct metabolism of calcium
Vitamin K - plays an important role in a number of physiological processes including bone metabolism, energy production and immune function.
MSM - supports the horses’ natural anti-inflammatory processes, as well as providing a bioavailable source of sulphur to support hoof growth.
Collagen and amino acids – Collagen is a protein, and along with other key amino acids, provides a structure for calcium, phosphorus and other minerals to add strength and harden the framework or skeleton. This combination of collagen and minerals makes bone both strong and flexible enough to withstand the stresses of normal physical exertion. Collagen also provides support for soft tissue (tendon and ligament) health.
Copper, zinc, manganese and silicon – are key trace minerals, provided from a combination of organic and inorganic sources to help ensure optimum bio-availability, and they all play key roles in bone growth and development.

Reviews
Cartilage and joint fluid are often the first areas of the joint to show signs of wear and tear – cartilage is the spongy, elastic material which covers the ends of bones within a joint and acts as a major shock absorber. Joint fluid should be thick and viscous, to bathe and lubricate the joint, also acting as a vital shock absorber.
During exercise, especially intense training and competition, and as horses age, cartilage can become damaged, and joint fluid become thinner, resulting in discomfort and loss of performance.
